About The Blessed Kat

On her second week at work, a man she was mildly introduced to crept up slowly from behind her cubicle, his arms clasped to its edges like a gecko. “Hello, Kat Rahmat. Kat Kat. The Blessed Kat.” He chanted.

Only after she saw the elevator doors close  behind him did she realise he had toyed with her sir name, a derivative Arabic word meaning Blessing. Cute.

About the author

Informal

Kat Rahmat, 25 is an absent-minded and restless git. In many ways both humorous and factual, it is a miracle she made it to her age. Perhaps her laid-back and indiscriminate approach to most things will excuse her.

Her favorite places are Edinburgh, London and Jakarta. A faithful reader of The Guardian, she has been accused of being an Anglophile, having a lifelong appreciation for English Literature. Nevertheless, she also reads Southern writers and history books and is sensitive to any hint of undeserved supremacy. Her other interests include Politics, Philosophy and Culture.

She frequents Facebook.

Formal

Khatijah Rahmat, 25 was President of the Edinburgh Malaysian Students’ Association before completing her MA in Philosophy and Politics in 2007. She began her career as a Researcher for the regional stakeholder management consultancy Karim Raslan Associates.

In early 2009, she served as an Editorial Executive for Malaysia’s largest listed company, Sime Darby Berhad. Currently she is a Consultant with global public relations firm Weber Shandwick. Khatijah is also a freelance writer.
